Sogn Folkemuseum, stavkyrkja

Route description; Take the ferry from Dragsvik to Hella, drive to Sogndal, pass the centre over the bridge in direction Mannhiller/Oslo. After 5-10 min. from Sogndal you come to the forrest area of Kaupanger and will find the Folk Museum on the right hand side by the road.

At the Folk Museum at Kaupanger “De Heibergske Samlinger”, outside of Sogndal you can experience the historic Sogn, see old houses and buildings.  The museum is among the most distinctive in the country and offers excitement and real experiences for all ages.

The tour can be combined with a visit to the Boat Museum at Kaupanger which has an exhibition of boats used on the fjord in past times.

Sogn Fjordmuseum and the Boat Museum is a separate part of the Heiberg Collection, situated by Kaupanger ferry-quay. A five minute drive from the museum’s main site.

Sogn Folk Museum & Boat Museum

The Kaupanger Stave Church is situated between the two museum’s places, on the road down to the ferry quay and fjord side. It’s nice to have a lunch at Vesterland Resort Centre, restaurant “Hjorten” of Kaupanger or stop in Sogndal on the return.A whole day’s trip or half a day’s trip. Approx 1 hour from Dragsvik to Kaupanger in driving time.
